But that’s not all–! There’s also battle-damaged, bullet-ridden interchangeable shoulder pads! Not only are we getting the standard display options with this Jim Lee Wolverine 12″ figure, but we’re also getting two alternate heads: a fully-unmasked Logan head (with retracted mask) and a Battle-Damaged Wolverine head with berserker rage angry expression.
I posted photos of the 12″ Wolverine figure when it was first put out on display during the show, but it turns out that the figure is even better than we initially thought!
X FORCE WOLVERINE SERIES
What I think is almost a sure-fire best-seller (at least, as far as best-sellers within this series go) is the 12″ Marvel Legends Wolverine that was announced during San Diego Comic-Con. Coupled with the facts that the iconic red Deadpool was cleared out at half price and that the brown on the arms (not usually included on toys) makes this particular sixth scale figure pretty ugly, and I’m legit concerned that this Deadpool variant is going to bomb hard at retail. Wade Wilson only wore this costume in a handful of issues, and it’s not one that we see released very often at all (although Kotobukiya did just release an ARTFX+ repaint in this color scheme). This is the “Inverse Deadpool” black and red costume that Funko first released a toy of half a decade ago ( which happens to be one of the first Funko reviews I ever wrote!). What makes less sense to me, however, was the announcement that a Marvel Legends Weapon X Deadpool 12″ figure is also going to be released–as a mass market retail item. The grey Deadpool costume is easily Wade’s second most recognizable and marketable look from the comics, so it makes sense that Toys R Us would want to take on this iteration of Deadpool as an exclusive release.
The Target Exclusive Symbiote Spider-Man 12″ figure began hitting stores last month, and the second exclusive release in the line has now been announced: a Toys R Us Exclusive Marvel Legends 12″ X-Force Deadpool figure! Whether she’ll actually be adapted for live action remains to be seen, but with Hugh Jackman retiring as Wolverine following eight movies over 17 years, the franchise might benefit from a new clawed mutant filling his position. The 12″ Marvel Legends figures series is a bit of an odd duck in that every figure released to date has been quickly discounted by huge amounts by the chains carrying the line, and yet the series itself keeps on chugging along.įrom an outside perspective the line doesn’t seem to be performing very well, but Hasbro (and stores) must be at least reasonably happy with the 12″ series if new figures keep getting show and stores keep signing up for exclusives. This hasn’t been confirmed yet, but whether she’s featured there first or in X-Force, it sounds like there are definitely discussions about her being included in this cinematic universe. Last month, it was reported that she’ll appear next year in Wolverine 3.
This isn’t the first time that X-23 has been mentioned as possibly being introduced to the X-Men movies. … Simon is in the earliest script stage, so that’s kind of where that stands, and we’ll see how it evolves. I actually initially pitched the X-Force and the female. Although he’s currently only involved at the “idea level,” Singer informed Fandango that he had talks with 20th Century Fox about an X-Force movie, and X-23 was brought up as one of the team members.
